Gadot Biochemical Industries, an Israel-based supplier specializing in mineral ingredients, announced the recent launch of its zinc gluconate ingredient.
Zinc, sought after for its immune support applications, is involved in hundreds of processes pertinent to human health, including cell growth, wound healing, the utilization of vitamins (including E and A) and protein, and proper hormonal function.
“A daily intake of zinc is required to maintain a steady state because the body has no specialized zinc storage system,” Ohad Cohen, CEO of Gadot, said. “Numerous studies have shown that zinc deficiency can result in many wide-ranging conditions, such as eczema, hair loss, mental illness, male impotence, impaired wound healing, anemia, post-natal depression, and nerve damage, among others.”
Zinc gluconate is made with gluconic acid, which is a strong chelating agent, Gadot reports. Other benefits of the zinc gluconate include its high solubility, ease of processing, and high content of zinc, the company said, making it a strong candidate for functional beverages, food fortification, and more.
Gadot reports that its zinc gluconate ingredient is Halal and Kosher certified.
