The Honorable Jean Lapierre, Minister of Transport and Political Lieutenant for Quebec, on behalf of the Honorable David Emerson, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Science and Engineering Research Canada (NSERC), recently unveiled plans whereby the federal government is granting over $600,000 to support a new collaborative research and development program on the potential anti-inflammatory health benefits of cow’s milk. The new program will study growth hormones in cow’s milk that may have anti-inflammatory properties, which can be used to treat chronic inflammatory diseases, and will be based at Université Laval. The federal government will contribute $610,000 over three years through NSERC’s Collaborative Research and Development program. Industry partner Advitech, Inc., will contribute $305,000, and will provide substantial resources in the form of goods and services to support the program’s research activities.
