Technologists in search of a naturally derived alternative to petroleum-based ingredients now have a pure, multifunctional option available in the form of Zemea USP-FCC propanediol. With functions ranging from bitterness suppression in food and beverages to a flavor and extract carrier, Zemea USP-FCC propanediol is the newest tool in the formulators toolbox for a wide range of applications. DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products (DTL) will be highlighting the benefits of Zemea USP-FCC propanediol at IFT Booth 2284.
"At this year’s IFT expo, DTL is pleased to share new information on the benefits of using Zemea propanediol as a direct food additive and as a flavor carrier,” said David Shaw, global marketing manager, DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products. “By using Zemea propanediol in certain formulations, technologists have found that they can achieve a reduction in bitterness and an overall improved sweetness perception in the final product.”
Zemea USP-FCC propanediol is manufactured through a proprietary fermentation process using glucose from a rapidly renewable feedstock instead of petroleum-based feedstocks. The resulting product functions as a carrier, extraction solvent, taste modifier, diluent, and humectant.
