Lemon Flavonoid Complex Shown to Support Healthy Blood Glucose

Ingredients By Nature’s Eriomin reduced blood glucose levels by 5% by increasing GLP-1 by 17% and decreasing inflammatory markers.

A patented extract of lemon based flavonoids marketed as Eriomin by Ingredients By Nature (IBN) was evidenced to be beneficial in prediabetes management in a study published in the Journal of Medical Food.

After 12 weeks, supplementation was linked to a 5% reduction in blood glucose levels, and an increase in GLP-1 by 17%, which coincided with decreasing markers of systemic inflammation.

The double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled crossover study evaluated the standardized extract in reducing blood glucose-related biomarkers. Study participants were randomly divided into two groups. Each group received a daily dose of the supplement followed by a 2-week washout period. The 26-week study observed the subject’s fasting blood glucose levels reduced by five percent at the end of treatment with 200 mg of Eriomin.

“We are thrilled to see that Eriomin continues to show its benefits towards managing prediabetes, a prominent health concern for today’s consumer,” said Rob Brewster, president of Ingredients by Nature. “One in three Americans have prediabetes, and 400 million people worldwide are already prediabetic. This study further reveals Eriomin’s ability to be a proactive and multifunctional approach to prediabetes management.”

The dosage of 200 mg was chosen in the present study based on a previous human clinical trial which found that this lower dose had an effect comparable to that seen in 400 mg and 800 mg dosages. However, in the present study, participants were borderline diabetic, with six participants who were hyperglycemic (undiagnosed), whereas the previous study’s participants had hyperglycemia bordering on prediabetes.

“We plan to conduct additional studies with Eriomin to see how it can further benefit those who need alternatives to pharmaceuticals when controlling their blood sugar levels,” Brewster said.
