Verdure Sciences Earns NSF/ANSI 455-2 Dietary Supplement GMP Certification

The accredited GMP standards are designed to strengthen safety and trust in a supply chain, as told through earning an NSF mark.

Verdure Sciences’ manufacturing facility in Gujarat, India received the NSF/ANSI 455-2 Dietary Supplements Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification.

Earning GMP certification through NSF, a third-party health and safety organization, verifies that a manufacturing facility has the proper methods, equipment, facilities, and controls in place to produce dietary supplements. The standards include guidelines which help companies develop and maintain proper controls in their manufacturing process so that products consistently meet quality standards.

“It is critical to ensure that the dietary ingredients you are consuming are of the highest quality and comply with regulatory requirements, and we appreciate our ongoing partnership with NSF,” said Ashish Kumar, MBA, MSc, regulatory compliance officer at Verdure Sciences. “We are dedicated to adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices and have obtained certification from NSF to ensure that we’re in compliance with NSF/ANSI 455-2 standards.”

The accredited public standards of NSF/ANSI were recently introduced for dietary supplements, cosmetics, and over-the-counter drugs as a replacement for a previous set of standards that were phased out entirely in 2022, the NSF/ANSI 173 GMPs. The new update “aims to promote safer dietary supplement products for consumers worldwide,” according to NSF’s website.

“These standards provide consistent quality management principles, and meeting these requirements is no small feat, especially with the updated standard,” said Kumar. “As one of the few organizations that have obtained this GMP certification, we take pride in our commitment to quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.”

“The NSF/ANSI 455 GMP mark indicates that an NSF auditor has audited a facility, checked documents, and deemed the facility compliant with GMP regulations for production,” said David Trosin, managing director of global health sciences certification at NSF. “We’re very pleased to grant NSF/ANSI 455 GMP certification to Verdure Sciences’ manufacturing facility.”
