Sirio Pharma, a global nutraceutical CDMO, has invested 16 million euros in a packaging facility at its Pritzwalk campus near Berlin. This investment follows a record-breaking year for the company, which had revenues in excess of 469 million euros, reflecting a 43% year-over-year growth.

The new facility features bottling and blistering lines, supporting both bulk supply and private label options. This enables Sirio to offer customers a complete end-to-end solution from formulation development to product packaging.

The facility is designed to ensure seamless transfer of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical  softgels from the adjacent manufacturing site, operating under a unified pharmaceutical GMP standards regimen, approved for both human and veterinary medicinal products. Quality controls are maintained throughout the entire production process, from manufacturing to the finished product.

The new packaging lines are equipped with process-control technologies, including a fully automated bottling line with robotic palletization. The packaging lines operate to pharmaceutical-grade GMP standards and have production-to-delivery times as fast as three weeks.

The facility’s two new lines augment its production capabilities. The first is a high-speed bottling line with customizable output of 5 million bottles per year, accommodating bottle sizes ranging from 75-400 ml. The second line can fill 20 million blister packs annually, across ten blister formats for both oval and oblong softgels. The side has a bulk production capacity of 2 billion capsules per year.

The packaging lines are fitted with visual inspection systems and in-line process control technologies. These systems monitor physical appearance, product weight, and metal detection, so sensitive that a single capsule failure can trigger an operator alert.

“We have grown significantly in recent years and, as a result, have doubled down on investing in advanced manufacturing technology. With our state-of-the-art packaging facility, we now offer full-service, pharmaceutical-grade softgel development in Germany. Our teams bring incredible experience, spanning over 30 years, and by completing everything from R&D to final packaging on a single site, we offer significant advantages to our customers, who benefit from pharma-grade quality at every phase of production,” said Sara Lesina, General Manager, SIRIO Europe & Americas.

The new facility’s environmental credentials include energy-saving heat pumps, energy recovery technology, and solar panels. The site is certified Organic, and certified Friend of the Sea by the Marine Stewardship Council, for its chain of custody standards.
