PLT Health Solutions has launched TestFactor Sexual Wellness and Longevity, a complex of East Indian globe thistle (Spaeranthus indicus) and mango tree bark (Mangifera indica) formulated to support free and total testosterone.

The ingredient is evidenced to support testosterone production in four randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies, PLT reports, and the most recent study also found that supplementation significantly enhanced measures of overall sexual function such as desire, frequency, pleasure, and other factors. The study also linked supplementation with reduced mental and physical fatigue, and improved grip strength.

There is a rising interest in maintaining healthy testosterone levels among men, said Seth Flowerman, president and CEO at PLT Health Solutions. “Men are becoming increasingly aware of testosterone’s pivotal role in overall health—with benefits spanning sexual wellness to physical strength, endurance, and muscle mass,” said Flowerman. “The unique combination of extracts in TestFACTOR has demonstrated impressive results across four clinical trials and has been shown to boost both Free and Total Testosterone. We are proud that our customers are featuring it in a growing range of leading men’s health formulations.”

The most recent clinical study on the ingredient involved 60 healhty, non-obese, recreationally-active men who took either 325 mg of TestFactor per day or a matching placebo for eight weeks. Key outcome measures included biomarkers for free and total testosterone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), and testosterone to estradiol ratio. Questionnaires covered change in sexual function, the Chalder Fatigue Scale (CFQ), the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS) and the SF-36 vitality scale. Physical assessments included grip strength and body composition via DEXA scans.

By week eight, subjects taking TestFactor saw a 19% increase in total testosterone and a 20% increase in free testosterone compared to baseline values. Overall improvement in sexual function was 48% across evaluations. Sexual frequency improved by 58%, sexual interest by 45%, erections by 49%, and pleasure by 44%. TestFactor subjects had lower scores for both mental and physical fatigue. Grip strength was improved by 14.5% for TestFactor subjects. All of these changes were considered statistically significant compared to placebo.

“We understood the impacts on testosterone from prior clinical work, which focused on strength. We wanted to focus this study on understanding the potential benefits to men’s sexual health,” said Jennifer Murphy, MS, RD, director of innovation and clinical development for PLT Health Solutions. “We saw that TestFactor offers a significant opportunity for men to improve their sexual function and enhance their experience, improve energy, and support their long-term vitality.”
