Jiaherb, a global manufacturer of natural ingredients and botanical extracts has completed its new Lab and Research & Development Building in Xi’an, China. After two years of planning, the company moved to the facility on Oct. 8, representing a significant investment toward innovation and growth in manufacturing premium ingredients.

The new building spans 11 floors and has over 140,000 square feet designed to meet and exceed the needs of the company’s R&D efforts. The facility integrates multiple departments under one roof including R&D, QA/QC labs, accounting and purchasing, sales and marketing, logistics, dining, and meeting spaces.

The building’s strategic consolidation will foster collaboration across departments for more efficient project management, drive innovation, and deliver superior ingredients worldwide, the company said. The integrated approach ensures that quality control is maintained at every stage of production and testing labs can work closely with R&D teams to deliver innovative ingredients and ensure compliance with industry standards.

“The new facility enables Jiaherb to respond swiftly to customer needs, adapt to emerging market trends, and consistently deliver high-quality products more efficiently on a global scale,” said Scott Chen, president of Jiaherb. “This investment enhances internal operations while also reinforcing Jiaherb’s reputation as a leader in herbal extract innovation, offering reliable solutions to customers worldwide.”

The new facility represents the company’s dedication to support scientific advancements and its ongoing commitment to delivering sustainable and reliable herbal extracts to its customers, Chen added. Within the last year, the company announced its membership into AHPA; a new farm in Mount Taibai, China; the adoption of Kava through ABC’s Adopt-an-Herb-Program; and a CITES Certification for Rhodiola Rosea.

Key attributes of the building include:

R&D: Occupying three floors and extending across almost 40,000 square feet, this area of the facility is dedicated to advancing innovation in herbal extract development.

Testing Labs: Occupying an additional three floors and covering over 30,000 square feet of the facility, the testing labs have advanced equipment and technologies to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety for all ingredients. Over $6 million has been invested in equipment, with more than 1,800 quality tests conducted daily.

“It’s been a tremendous year for our company,” said Chris Oesterheld, executive vice president, Jiaherb. “Opening the new R&D facility is a major milestone that reflects our dedication to providing the highest quality, sustainably sourced ingredients to our partners around the world.”
