TriNutra recently received approval from Health Canada for several health claims related to its OmegaQuin dietary supplement. The formula combines Thymoquin, a full-spectrum, cold-pressed, USP monograph-compliant extra virgin black seed oil, with fish oil to create a synergistic finished product.

A clinical study found that OmegaQuin had an enhanced effect at modulating certain inflammatory markers greater than either of the two nutrients on their own. OmegaQuin is evidenced to have a positive impact on markers of fat storage, fatty liver, energy production, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, inflammation, and blood sugar levels. Additionally, the formula appears to exhibit beneficial effects on oxidative stress, mood, and modulation of the gut microbiome in athletes, according to a 2022 study.

The product license from Health Canada allows for certain claims on OmegaQuin’s packaging, including:

  • Help support/maintain normal heart function and health
  • Help support/maintain normal brain function
  • Help support/maintain cognitive health
  • Help moderate general feelings of stress
  • Help support healthy gut microbiota
  • Help support/maintain normal triglycerides levels
  • Help support healthy liver function
  • Help support healthy glucose levels

“We are incredibly proud to receive the approved structure-function health claims from Health Canada for our OmegaQuin product,” said Morris Zelkah, CEO of TriNutra. “We believe in this product and its benefits and continually invest in clinical research to demonstrate its potential to support health and well-being.”
