BGG Receives USP Award for Work on Elderberry Extract

The company helped to establish third-party analytical standards for dry extracts of the fruit.

BGG World has received recognition from the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for its work establishing standards for elderberry extracts.

The company received both a “Certificate of Appreciation” and “Donor Recognition Program” award for its contributions to USP’s efforts, which are officially monographed as “European Elder Berry Dry Extract.”

According to USP, BGG’s contributions add “significant public benefit to the standards-setting process in support of USP’s mission.” BGG World has collaborated with USP on establishing standards for several other ingredients.

“We were honored to participate and contribute to the development of this monograph, especially having our test methods validated and adopted,” said Yanmei Li, PhD, BGG’s global chief scientific officer. “The monograph sets up the pharmacopeial standard of elderberry extract and will benefit all stakeholders of the elderberry industry to fight against adulteration and assure protection of public health.

“At BGG, we believe that assisting third-party oversight organizations like USP comes with the territory of being market leaders. We’re always ready to pitch in and do our part to establish clear quality standards for the industry to follow.”
