A CBN ingredient marketed by FloraWorks as TruCBN was associated with sleep benefits at various dosages in a sleep study published in Pharmaceuticals.

TruCBN is a purified cannabinol (CBN), a cannabinoid that is seeing a rise in consumer demand. While anecdotally, CBN is used for sleep support benefits, these claims haven’t been supported by controlled clinical studies.

FloraWorks supported independent research conducted by contract research organization Radicle Science, which conducted a six-week study on 1,000 participants.

Participants were administered either 25, 50, or 100 mg serving sizes of TruCBN, a matching placebo, or a 4 mg dose of melatonin, and were evaluated at multiple time points after taking respective supplements daily for six weeks using the PROMIS sleep questionnaire.

Key findings included that 50 mg of TruCBN demonstrated significantly improved self-reported sleep quality compared to placebo; study participants found no significant differences in side effects compared to placebo; and TruCBN, at a 50 mg dose, outperformed a standard dose of melatonin in supporting sleep.

“This research represents a significant advancement in sleep science. Our findings suggest that TruCBN™ can effectively enhance sleep quality, providing a natural and safe alternative for those struggling with sleep disturbances and, importantly, an effective alternative to melatonin,” said Emily K Pauli, PharmD, the study’s principal investigator and chief research officer.

“This publication is a testament to our commitment to advancing scientific understanding and clinical validation of cannabinoids,” said Alleh Lindquist, CEO of FloraWorks. “This marks a major step forward in our efforts to bring TruCBN into the mainstream markets as a safe and effective alternative in the fight against sleeplessness.”
