CRN Relaunches “Vitamin D and Me!” Website

The updates reflect shifting health priorities, and a growing body of evidence for new vitamin D benefits.

The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN)’s CRN Foundation has relaunched its “Vitamin D and Me!” website as an educational resource for consumers to learn about the importance of vitamin D in health and wellness.

The updates transition the website from its original purpose as a source of information focused on the relationship between vitamin D and COVID-19/immune health. The website was launched in May 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic as a public education site on the nutrient, providing research, news, and health information.

The site summarized over 100 studies, clinical trials, and meta-analyses examining the relationship between vitamin D and COVID-19, and was promoted through traditional and social media strategies as well as engagements with the supermarket dietitian resource Shopping for Health, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Food & Nutrition Conference and Expo.

“The Vitamin D & Me! site proved to be a vital resource for consumers and dietitians to learn about the important role of vitamin D and immune health over the past few years, including the large amount of research being conducted and published on vitamin D and COVID-19,” said Luke Huber, ND, CRN vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs. “With shifting public health priorities, and the growing body of evidence for other vitamin D benefits, this is an opportunity to expand the scope of the site to describe the broad role of vitamin D in health and wellness to consumers and healthcare professionals.”

The scientifically supported content for “Vitamin D & Me!” was developed by CRN member company Nutrasource, a life sciences services company working with nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals.
