dsm-firmenich Partners with SCN BestCo to Formulate Omega-3 Gummies

The partnership will yield high-load gummies using dsm-firmenich’s algal omega-3 powder.

dsm-firmenich, a manufacturer specializing in the health, nutrition, and beauty industries, is partnering with SCN BestCo to develop and market omega-3 gummies in the U.S., leveraging dsm-firmenich’s ingredient and flavor expertise and SCN BestCo’s gummy development and manufacturing capabilities.
 
The partnership will utilize life’sOMEGA O33-P100, an algal-based omega-3 powder, to create high-load omega-3 gummies.
 
Omega-3 gummies are historically challenging to formulate due to the sensitive nature of EPA and DHA, notes dsm-firmenich, especially when it comes to achieving high-dosage levels while preserving sensory qualities. Many conventional omega-3 gummies contain less than 100 mg of EPA and DHA per two-piece serving.
 
To help address this, dsm-firmenich developed life’sOMEGA O33-P100, which incorporates the algal oil into POWDER LOC technology, which protects EPA and DHA in a shell system enabling dosages of 400 mg of EPA and DHA per two-piece serving. life’sOMEGA algal oils are produced using precision-fermented algae grown in an enclosed, inland environment to ensure purity.
