GC Rieber VivoMega Announces Construction of New Facility

The company will construct a 32,000 metric ton tank park, and update its technology platform in existing manufacturing plants.

GC Rieber VivoMega, a global supplier of omega-3 concentrates, has announced a five-year, $75 million investment plan to build a new facility at their Norwegian manufacturing campus. This new facility is expected to be completed by early 2024, and will enable the company to produce more than double the output of their triglyceride form of omega-3s EPA and DHA.

“This investment is part of GC Rieber VivoMega’s continual commitment to develop the needed facilities for the increased capacity and production of our industry leading omega-3 oils,” said Jan Roger Bjerkestrand, managing director of GC Rieber VivoMega. “To minimize our eco-footprint, we will be leveraging much of the existing infrastructure, including docks, tanks, laboratories, and energy to provide the same high-quality product that our customers are asking for.”

During the summer of 2022, the company will complete the construction of a 32,000 metric ton tank park and updated technology platform in its existing manufacturing plants. The tank park will help the company manage today’s supply chain challenges, and is an asset in new expansions. To support future new raw material sources, the new facility will be designed with the added flexibility to support future growth in omega-3 high-end concentrates.

“We are encouraged that this new development will enable GC Rieber VivoMega to continue to grow and expand as a leading high-end omega-3 supplier,” said Bjerkestrand. “With one of the world’s largest fish oil manufacturing and storage facilities, the expansion will provide GC Rieber VivoMega with added flexibility to meet our customers’ ongoing supply needs.”
