Kyowa Hakko USA (KHUS) appointed Gerard Adams as its new president and CEO on April 1, 2022. Adams previously worked as the company’s general manager of corporate strategy, and takes over from Leo Cullen, who was with Kyowa Hakko from 2007 to 2022, and had a tenure as president and CEO since January 1, 2016.

Adams joined Kirin Holdings as senior director of corporate strategy, and since then, the two C-suite executives have worked closely together.

“Gerard is committed to supporting KHUS during this exciting time, leading with a proven track record of driving growth and innovation. He will spearhead future developments at KHUS, drawing from his wealth of experience in cross-cultural management and high-level strategic corporate planning,” Cullen said.

Adams, who holds Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Business degrees from the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia, and multiple board positions in the U.S. and Japan, said he is ready for this new chapter of his career.

“I’m honored to be taking over from Leo Cullen, who has shown exemplary leadership as CEO. He has not only expanded Kyowa Hakko USA’s business but has built a high functioning team that I’m looking forward to working closely with to grow the business and explore new market opportunities for KHUS,” Adams said.

Adams will be responsible for growing sales of KHUS’s pharmaceutical, dietary supplement, food, beverage, and cosmetics products in North and South America, and for all aspects of the company’s growth and development.
