As part of its launch into the North American dietary supplement and functional foods and beverages marketplace, Greenvit has introduced an environmentally friendly extraction technology called PureGreen.

According to Rafal Pietruszynski, CEO, PureGreen’s extraction process can be summed up in five key benefits. The first is reduced energy consumption, contributing to a small carbon footprint and lowered operational costs. Secondly, the cold water extraction method reduces the environmental impact of extraction. PureGreen’s techniques also offer higher yield rates, making extraction more effective and producing less waste. The technology also preserves the natural compounds of plant materials ensuring that extracts maintain their full potency and nutritional value. Finally, the absence of harmful chemicals and additives in the extraction process results in a cleaner, safer product.

The extraction process entails blending berries into purified water to obtain an extract that is separated from pulp through centrifugal force, after which the pulp is upcycled rather than wasted.

The resulting juice is processed utilizing microfiltration and ultrafiltration membranes, ensuring that actives are intact.

The process is powered by solar energy, ensuring a reduced carbon footprint.

“The expectation by consumers that their supplements are clean, sustainable, and traceable is now a given, and this has encouraged our team to develop PureGreen extraction,” said Pietruszynski. “By prioritizing both quality and sustainability, PureGreen technology positions Greenvit as a leader in the natural extracts market, catering to the growing demand for eco-conscious products.”

The technology is used to produce Greenvit’s purified prebiotic berry extracts, which include extracts of tart cherry, elderberry, aronia, black currant, bilberry, and blueberry. They are also maltodextrin and silicone-free, 100% water-soluble, and contain no added sugars.

“Utilizing our PureGreen technology, our unique berry juice powder extracts can claim clean label as there is also no corn or potato starch used in the process, nor are any chemicals or additives used,” said Pietruszynski. “Instead, we use only FDA-approved ingredients such as acacia gum.”

The technology can allow for more creative formulation flexibility with berry and botanical ingredients noted Pietruszynski. “Consumers are sold on supplements to improve their health and well-being but are seeking improved convenience and taste to provide more of a sensorial experience. PureGreen ingredients can help provide these attributes.
