Greenvit, a supplier specializing in berry extracts which recently entered the U.S. market, spotlighted Fenactive, an immune support formulation of elderberry and aronia extracts standardized for anthocyanins (HPLC) and polyphenols (UV). Specifically, the ingredient is standardized to contain 10% anthocyanins and 15% polyphenols.

An in vitro study conducted at the Polish Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with Greenvit, found that Fenactive, when administered at the maximum non-toxic concentration, inhibited the replication of A/H1N1 influenza virus by as much as 80%, Greenvit reported. The company recommends a daily dose of 200-250 mg.

Fenactive is suitable for a variety of nutraceuticals, including capsules, tablets, children’s gummies, powdered and liquid formulations, and more.

Elderberries are a rich source of anthocyanins such as cyanidin-3-glucoside and cyanin-3-sambubiosidde, along with flavonoids (rutin, quercetin, astragalin), phenolic acids (chlorogenic acid), and triterpenes, all of which exhibit antioxidant activity.
