New Chapter’s New Golden Black Seed Supplement Targets Metabolic Health

Research shows the ancient superfoods black seed and turmeric deliver results for modern health concerns.

New Chapter, Brattleboto, VT, has launched a new Golden Black Seed supplement – a studied, synergistic blend of organic Black Seed (Nigella) and organic turmeric that supports metabolic health by helping to maintain healthy blood pressure, body weight and blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels already in a normal range. Black Seed has also been studied to support healthy mood, alertness and memory and to help with occasional anxiety and stress.

Metabolic syndrome is a combination of health risk factors and is a leading public health issue in the U.S. It is often called a silent killer because these risk factors are largely asymptomatic. One in three U.S. adults has enough of these risk factors to be classified as having metabolic syndrome and the health impact of this worsens with age according to the Centers for Disease Control. An estimated 40% of adults 40 and older have enough risk factors to be classified with metabolic syndrome and one out of every two adults 60 and older meet this classification.

“With our Golden Black Seed supplement we’re following New Chapter’s holistic approach by tapping ancient herbal wisdom that has been validated by modern science, to address 21st century health concerns,” said New Chapter founder and master herbalist, Paul Schulick.

New Chapter’s Golden Black Seed supplement contains a studied pairing of black seed and turmeric to support metabolic health, including many of the risk factors for metabolic syndrome. For example, in a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial, combining black seed and turmeric significantly improved a number of parameters relevant to metabolic syndrome, and the combination of black seed and turmeric was significantly more effective than taking each herb on its own (US National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, 2015). Just as important, these metabolic health benefits were delivered through a lower dose of both herbs—60% of the amount taken alone.

“We were really excited to see the results of this study and the real benefits of combining these two ancient herbs together. The synergistic combination of turmeric and black seed follows New Chapter’s formulation principle of ‘1+1 being greater than 2,’ (this refers to our dedication to finding herbal synergies – herbs that are stronger together than on their own), and truly represents a ‘new chapter’ in herbal health and wellness,” said Mr. Schulick.
