Ingredient supplier Nutraland USA Inc. will be exhibiting at Natural Products Expo West for the first time, to showcase plant-based ingredients, and two new studies on Miricell rice germ polyamines.

Miricell, a natural, non-GMO, gluten-free source of spermidine and other polyamines, was the focus of an unpublished pilot study by the Center for Applied Health Sciences (CAHS), which sought to determine how supplementation could impact markers of healthy aging, cognitive function, and autophagy, the body’s process of cellular renewal. The unpublished study found that Miricell was able to stimulate autophagy in a way similar to fasting, and it was the first human study to identify a specific supplemental dose of spermidine that achieved this effect, Nutraland USA reported. The research also indicated positive impacts on cardiometabolic markers, setting ground work for a larger clinical study to further explore these effects, the company reported.

Another decentralized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study conducted by Radicle Science, which recruited nearly 700 participants, is also under final review, Nutraland USA reported. It found that a specific cohort of subjects experienced improvements in measures of cognitive function while supplementing with Miricell.

“We’re thrilled to showcase this exciting research at Expo West and engage with brands looking for plant-based, science-based ingredients,” said Gene Bruno, MS, MHS, RH, chief science officer of Nutraland USA. “These studies reinforce Miricell’s potential in supporting healthy aging and overall well-being, making it a valuable addition to next-generation dietary supplements.”
