NutraShure Debuts Tasteless, Ready-To-Mix Butyrate Ingredient for GI Health

BIOMEnd contains L-Lysine Butyrate, the l-lysine salt of butyric acid, allowing for complete solubility in a liquid solution.

Health ingredient supplier and distributor NutraShure Distribution, LLC, has introduced its BIOMEnd branded butyrate ingredient, which the company said solves palatability and solubility issues seen with traditional butyrate ingredients thanks to its unique form.

Butyrate is a four-carbon short-chain fatty acid that naturally occurs in certain foods and is produced by gut bacteria during the fermentation of dietary fiber.

BIOMEnd is a patent-pending form that contains L-Lysine Butyrate, the l-lysine salt of butyric acid, allowing for complete solubility in a liquid solution, according to NutraShure. The ingredient’s solubility ensures consistent dispersion and distribution.

“Addressing the palatability challenges associated with the commercially available butyrate and butyrate prodrugs currently on the market, the development of BIOMEnd represents a significant accomplishment for our team,” said Brandon Sojka, CEO of NutraShure and co-inventor of BIOMEnd. “As a research scientist and a business owner, delivering a game-changing ingredient to the market is a career-long aspiration, which is now a reality.”

Butyrate modulates responses of GI health through its role as a histone deacetylase (HDAC). The ingredient is a primary energy source for colonocytes, which are the cells that line the colon and help maintain the integrity of the gut barrier.

In addition, butyrate can modulate immune function by influencing innate and adaptive immune responses. The dual functionality of butyrate plays a key role in gut health and immunity benefits.

The taste and texture of traditional butyrate supplementation has limited its application and consumer acceptance. By eliminating concerns of taste, sedimentation, and uneven distribution, BIOMEnd has broad application use at any dose, according to the company.

“The presence of an ingredient that stands out so uniquely in the market creates a pathway for innovation to meet consumer demand,” said Elyse Lovett, chief marketing consultant at NutraShure. “Marketing a groundbreaking ingredient such as BIOMEnd is a driving force in the industry.”
