A probiotic (Alkalihalobacillus clausii 088AE) marketed by Specialty Enzymes & Probiotics as SEBclausii may help to improve allergy symptoms like runny nose, coughing, and sneezing, according to a new clinical study published in Global Advances in Integrative Medicine and Health.

The prospective, interventional, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study was conducted with 40 people with acute allergic rhinitis.

A daily dose of SEBclausii was found to improve self-reported coughing, sneezing, runny nose, nasal stuffiness, and itchy and watery eyes, per questionnaires. There were also noted changes in immune cells and immunity marker levels after supplementation.

“Our previous research indicates SEBclasii effectively supports the treatment of antibiotic-associated diarrhea,” said Reshma Rathi, vice president of Specialty Enzymes & Probiotics. We’re pleased to confirm its broader benefits in promoting relief from allergic rhinitis as well.”
