Research Confirms Weight Management Benefits of Cacti-Nea

Bio Serae Laboratories recently conducted a clinical study in order to confirm the diuretic and weight management effect of Cacti-Nea, a natural water extract of prickly pear cactus fruit (Opuntia ficus-indica), on humans.

The 28-day, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was conducted on 49 women with normal body mass index (BMI) (between 20 and 25). Subjects received a daily dose of 2 grams of Cacti-Nea. The aim of this clinical study was to evaluate Cacti-Nea’s diuretic effect in women showing water retention.

Results suggested Cacti-Nea induces a positive effect on body composition by limiting fat mass gain. A significant increase of fat mass in the placebo group (up to +3 kg increase) was observed, whereas no significant fat mass variation was seen in the Cacti-Nea group. Researchers also observed significant weight loss in the Cacti-Nea group and found that the ingredient significantly reduced water mass after 1 week of treatment.
