Sabinsa was honored by India’s Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) with the Environmental Sustainability Award for its “outstanding performance in environment, health, and safety” of the company’s Sami Kunigal manufacturing facility.

The award noted that the plant featured compliant safety measures, including escape routes, fire extinguishers, safety appliances, and a hydrant system. The plant also provides first aid services and has an occupational health center to address health and well-being of employees.

On the environmental side, the company features a self-supported boiler chimney to manage emissions in line with PCB norms. Sabinsa also implemented a zero liquid discharge wastewater management system to ensure no industrial wastewater is released into the environment.

“The support and guidance from regulatory bodies like the KSPCB are instrumental in shaping our operations and ensuring that we remain aligned with the best practices in safety and environmental management,” said Shaheen Majeed, global CEO and managing director of Sabinsa. “This recognition not only highlights our dedication to safeguarding the well-being of our employees through stringent safety measures but also underscores our responsibility to the local community and the environment.  It signifies the strong and enduring partnership between our plant and the KSPCB, and reinforces our shared goal of building a sustainable, safe, and health-conscious workplace. By meeting and exceeding the rigorous standards set by KSPCB, we continue to foster a harmonious balance between industrial growth, community welfare, and environmental preservation.”
