Specnova Launches NovaQSpheres Controlled-Release Beadlet Technology

The four-layer design allows for the customized, consistent, and gradual release of active ingredients.

Specnova has launched NovaQSpheres, a delivery system which offers precision-timed, controlled release of specific ingredients that would otherwise absorb quickly and have a short half-life in the body.

Unlike other delivery methods that deliver a large single dose, NovaQSpheres provides a customized, consistent, and gradual release of vitamins, minerals, botanicals, amino acids, and peptides.

NovaQSpheres consists of four layers of key active ingredients wrapped in a sphere-shaped membrane. “Unlike traditional methods htat deliver a large single dose, NovaQSpheres releases precise amounts of the ingredient into the bloodstream over a span of eight to 12 hours,” said Sebastian Balcombe, MS, medicinal chemist and founder/CEO of Specnova. “This controlled-release technology optimizes the release pattern of specific ingredients allowing more of the ingredient to reach the target tissues and with less waste in the urine.” Controlling the release of an ingredient over time with NovaQSpheres can maximize its presence in the bloodstream, translating to sustained results, Balcombe said.

The technology offers a customizable eight to 12 hour release delivery. Each NovaQSpheres beadlet is crafted with at least four layers of the key ingredient encapsulated within a sphere-shaped membrane. The membrane is composed of various polymers, cyclodextrins like MCC and HPMC, ensuring a robust and controlled release mechanism. NovaQSpheres uses only natural colors and all excipients are fully non-GMO.

Creatine Study

In a recent study, NovaQSpheres creatine monohydrate beadlets were tested in simulated intestinal fluid over a 10-hour period. A burst release of 52% of the creatine was observed in the first hour, providing an immediate surge. By hour 4, a steady release of 85% was recorded, and by hour 8, 95% of the creatine had been successfully delivered.

“NovaQSpheres technology is a game-changer in creatine supplementation, designed to maximize cellular creatine uptake and boost performance like never before,” said Balcombe. “While creatine boasts nearly 100% bioavailability, the challenge lies in its retention, which varies from person to person. This is because creatine relies on a specific transporter, CRT1, to reach muscle tissues. When creatine is supplied in large amounts all at once, CRT1 can become overwhelmed, elading to excess creatine being excreted in the urine rather than absorbed. Despite creatine’s longstanding use, no significant advancements have been made in improving its retention, until the advent of NovaQSpheres.”

In Combination with Liposomal Technology

NovaQSpheres is also suitable for use in combination with Specnova’s LipoVantage range of liposomal ingredients, said Balcombe.

“Liposomes are renowned for their ability to enhance bioavailability by increasing permeability, solubility, and stability within the body,” he said. “NovaQSpheres is the only beadlet technology that offers liposomal ingredients in beadlet form, combining the superior bioavailability and performance benefits of liposomes with the precision-controlled release of a beadlet. This groundbreaking combination ensures that ingredients are delivered more effectively and consistently to maximize their impact.”
