Supplementation with a water-dispersible turmeric extract marketed by Nutriventia as TurmXtra 60N was associated with significant improvements in self-reported knee discomfort, according to a recent clinical study.
“TurmXtra 60N has consistently been studied in joint and muscle health for healthy individuals. This marks our first clinical study in individuals with mild to moderate joint degradation, and we are encouraged by the significant improvements observed with just a small daily dose,” said Rajat Mittal Shah, co-founder of Nutriventia. “TurmXtra 60N was designed to reduce pill burden while delivering clinically meaningful benefits. These findings further validate its potential in supporting joint health.”
In the study, 139 participants with signs of mild to moderate joint degradation of the knee were randomized to receive either a placebo or 250 mg of the ingredient for 90 days.
Participants who took the supplement reported improved joint comfort by day 7 of the treatment period, with a significantly higher mean reduction in Visual Analog Scale scores from baseline to day 90 compared to the placebo group.
Participants taking TurmXtra 60N showed significant improvement in knee injury and osteoarthritis outcome score (KOOS) across all domains, which included pain, symptoms, activities of daily living, function in sport and recreation, and knee-related quality of life, on day 90, compared to the placebo group.
The authors of the study also found that supplementation was linked to reduced inflammatory markers over the 90-day treatment window compared to placebo, suggesting potential benefits in supporting joint resilience over time.
“These findings reinforce the potential of TurmXtra 60N as a convenient and effective option for managing musculoskeletal health,” said Dr. Shefali Thanawala, general manager of medical science and research for nutraceuticals, noting that “with positive results in mild to moderate knee discomfort, TurmXtra 60N has shown promise as a potential agent for improving joint mobility and functionality, which is crucial for individuals across all age groups. Notably, these benefits have been observed consistently in clinical settings with a single daily dose, making it a convenient option that may enhance compliance.”
“Knee joint pain is very widespread, affecting older people, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts, as well as those who are overweight or obese.” Thanawala continued. “Once-daily TurmXtra 60N turmeric is an attractive solution to help restore comfort for millions of people … a 90-day regimen can provide effective support in alleviating symptoms, enhancing mobility, and improving quality of life, making it a valuable option for those seeking a natural approach to joint health.”
