Zeus Hygia Lifesciences has announced the launch of Grantria, a pomegranate extract evidenced in a clinical study to support measures of skin health and appearance. The study was published in the American Journal of Translational Research.

The proprietary pomegranate extract is standardized for ellagic acid, punicalagins, and punicic acid content, and is developed using a clean label ADOP (Advanced Oil to Powder) technology.

Grantria is formulated to promote a natural skin glow and smoother, more radiant complexion. It also contains traces of plant-based vitamin C and zinc, which, altogether, boost collagen production and improve hydration to maintain skin firmness, moisture, and elasticity, according to the company.

In the present study, 60 participants consumed either 300 mg of the ingredient or a placebo daily for 60 days, and their skin was evaluated using a variety of measures. The researchers found that Grantria was associated with improved crow’s feet wrinkles, tactile roughness, and forehead fine lines, as well as improved skin radiance compared to placebo.

Those who took Grantria saw reductions in facial pores by 4.58% and dark spots by 2.78% according to Visioscan topography measurements. These skin conditions are associated with hyperpigmentation that can come with aging, hormonal changes such as menopause, or sun exposure.  

The supplement group also saw a significant improvement in skin tone evenness, moisturization, elasticity, and firmness compared to baseline. Notably, the Grantria group saw a 48% reduction in crow’s feet wrinkles compared to the placebo group.
