Regulatory experts from EAS Asia will hold a workshop on “Navigating Health Supplement Regulations in ASEAN for Successful Market Access” that is open to all visitors at Vitafoods Asia 2014.

The 3-hour workshop will focus on the initiative of ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) on creating new regulations for health supplements and traditional medicines across the 10 countries of Southeast Asia that make up ASEAN. ASEAN has a market size of about 617 million people with a GDP of $2.3 trillion and total trade of $2.4 trillion.

“ASEAN is making progress on its harmonization process to meet the 2015 deadline for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC),” said Evon Chan, regional regulatory affairs adviser at EAS Asia. “This presents a unique opportunity for companies in the market to benefit from a single regulatory framework across the huge SE Asian region.”

EAS specializes in the areas of ASEAN integration relating to trade and trade facilitation, food regulations and laws, food safety, health and nutrition. It has many years of experience working with governments, trade associations and companies in the region. The workshop aims to guide participants in navigating the regulatory framework after ASEAN harmonization, and the how-to’s for smarter planning.

“Through this workshop, we wish to share our expertise on the ASEAN regulatory arena to help companies understand the impact of the transformation and how to respond to them,” said Wai Mun Poon, Regional Regulatory Affairs Manager at EAS Asia.

EAS Asia will also offer free 20-minute one-on-one consultation for pre-registered visitors. The advisory services include up-to-date regulatory advice on product formulas, labeling and claims to assist with visitors’ marketing plans across Asia, as well as strategies to navigate the regional free trade policies and harmonization of standards.
