Glanbia Nutritionals Adds truebroc to Ingredient Portfolio

Glanbia Nutritionals has entered into a strategic agreement with Brassica Protection Products LLC, for the distribution of its patented ingredient truebroc glucoraphanin, an antioxidant ingredient derived from broccoli seeds.

truebroc contains 13% glucoraphanin, which is the highest concentration of glucoraphanin currently available on the market, according to Glanbia. truebroc glucoraphanin is extracted from seeds grown in the U.S. using a proprietary patent protected water extraction method, is self-affirmed Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) and is Kosher and Halal.

Glucoraphanin is an important phytonutrient found in broccoli that naturally works with the body’s own protective enzyme systems to provide significant health benefits, such as maintaining cell integrity and protection from free radicals. Once consumed, truebroc is converted to sulforaphane — a potent activator of the body’s antioxidant and cellular protection system, which remains activated up to three days, unlike common ingested antioxidants that last only a few hours.

“The addition of truebroc glucoraphanin to the Glanbia Nutritionals’ portfolio of premier ingredients provides customers with a premium long-lasting antioxidant, further expanding on the innovative ingredient choices Glanbia offers for inclusion in foods and supplements,” said Ram Nimmagudda, PhD, director of business development for Glanbia Nutritionals.

“Brassica is pleased to enter a strategic partnership with Glanbia Nutritionals to expand the market reach of our truebroc glucoraphanin,” said Tony Talalay, CEO of Brassica Protection Products. “The vast nutritional expertise of Glanbia Nutritionals and its sales team will open new doors for truebroc and will provide more opportunities for manufacturers to add glucoraphanin into their dietary supplements, functional foods and beverages.”
