According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), as many as 90% of adults and children in the U.S. do not meet the recommended daily allowance of choline in their diets. Choline is related to the B-vitamin family, and though it is essential and has an established dietary recommendation, it is not considered a vitamin. Lack of choline in pregnant women and infants is associated with slowed development and is especially important for brain and neurological function. In adults, deficiencies in choline are related to low energy, memory issues, concentration difficulty, nerve damage, and even mood disorders.
In response to this need, EuroPharma, Inc., Green Bay, WI, makers of the Terry Naturally brand of dietary supplements, has launched Choline with B-Complex.
“In light of the extraordinary amount of the population that does not get enough choline through diet alone, I thought it was especially important to launch a quality choline product. I also included the B-vitamin family in their biologically active form because these nutrients work together as a family for the most optimal health outcomes,” stated Terry Lemerond, president and founder of EuroPharma, Inc. “Additionally, many prescription and over the counter drugs in the anticholinergic family actually deplete choline from the body. A recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (Neurology) found that use of these drugs could play a role in brain atrophy and dementia.”
