Charlie Amidon, President and COO, has retired from National Enzyme Company (NEC), Forsyth, MO, after seven years at the helm. With a stunning list of accomplishments to his credit, NEC said Mr. Amidon helped take the company to an unimaginable level of success with his rare ability to see undiscovered potential, along with delivering results way ahead of the competition.

From humble beginnings, Mr. Amidon started out in pharmaceutical sales and distribution in New York. He was quickly identified as someone who could find unique solutions and opportunities, even in the most impossible situations—a rare gift. During his impressive 40-year career, prior to joining NEC, Mr. Amidon served as president of Fisher Scientific, North America and executive vice president of HVL, Inc.

Commended repeatedly from many industry levels and various organizations, Mr. Amidon leaves behind a legacy that will not soon be forgotten. “I’m blessed to have been allowed to take 40 years of accumulated wisdom, and invest in a company that embraced the philosophy of change. NEC was an amazing place to be a part of. Their continuing vision to empower health and vitality worldwide, became a true passion for me as I worked to make that a reality. And while there is no easy way to end a chapter, I have a wonderful sense of peace knowing that NEC will continue to blaze a trail in the wellness industry under the skilled leadership of my successor, Nick Bruns,” said Mr. Amidon.

Although Mr. Amidon is officially retired, he will remain on the NEC Board of Directors as a strategic advisor and will provide support for their IT infrastructure in a limited capacity.

Meanwhile, Nicholas (Nick) Bruns, PhD, will now take the reigns as president and CEO of the company. Dr. Bruns joins the NEC team with nearly 30 years of industry experience, and an accomplished track record for success. Most recently, he served as senior vice president, Global Product Management for Glanbia, but he has been in nutritional and pharmaceutical fields his entire career. “I’m honored and humbled by the trust bestowed upon me with acceptance of this position. NEC is a trailblazer in the industry, successfully developing products and services that are unique and stand out in the marketplace. My immediate goal is to reinforce and continue the remarkable pattern of growth achieved by NEC—I’m proud to be a part of this exceptional company,” Dr. Bruns explained.

Mr. Amidon commented, “NEC represented an amazing part of my career, and finding someone worthy of its continuing legacy was no easy feat. Nick was the obvious choice as he exhibits passion, dedication, vision and a rare sense of humility. The sky is the limit, as NEC will continue to experience unprecedented growth under the skillful, no-nonsense leadership of Nick.”
