Arjuna Natural Pvt., Ltd. based in Kerala, India, has announced the results of a new study showing that its proprietary Rhuleave-K, a new ingredient consisting of a unique blend of three botanicals, has potential analgesic activity in reducing acute musculoskeletal pain.

The human clinical study, currently under peer-review, found Rhuleave-K to be equally effective as standard OTC acetaminophen (Tylenol) in reducing pain intensity and providing pain relief.

The study authors found that “the analgesic effect is felt immediately and its results are very encouraging,” said Benny Antony, joint managing director of Arjuna Natural.

The study showed significant reduction in pain irrespective of the pain intensity which was similar to OTC. Further, responder analysis showed that individuals in both groups achieved significant reduction in pain within two hours after consumption.

Musculoskeletal pain affects the bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves. It can be acute or chronic and lower back pain and tendonitis are the most common type of musculoskeletal pain. The first line for most mild to moderate acute pain is over the counter analgesics like acetominophen and ibuprofen, which may incur liver and renal toxicity and gastrointestinal damage with prolonged use.

“We know it is becoming more critical to develop all-natural pain relief formulas,” observed Nipen Lavingia, brand innovation advisor for Arjuna Natural based in Dallas, TX. “This study is especially significant since there are few natural products available for immediate pain relief that have similar benefits as OTC analgesics.”

Rhuleave-K has undergone detailed safety evaluation, according to the company. Arjuna Natural will launch it officially at SupplySide West.
