Synergia Life Sciences, an ingredients manufacturer based in India, recently received a European patent for its vitamin K2 as menaquinone-7 (MK-7) ingredient, MenaquinGold, for a number of positive effects on cardiovascular health. The patent recognized the ingredient’s efficacy in improving blood perfusion, ameliorating hypoxia in venous insufficiency, relieving symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency, and treatment of post thrombotic syndrome complications in human subjects.
Dr. Dilip Mehta, CEO of Synergia Life Sciences, said that MenaquinGold “has a contribution in a wide range of therapeutics, especially in cardiovascular and metabolic health. Due to this increasing acceptance of MenaquinGold as an essential nutrient for human health, it has created a strong recognition globally.”
This nutrient can help to relieve fatigue by improving perfusion, which in turn increases blood oxygenation and energy supply, Dr. Ashok Viadya, research director at the Kasturba Health Society Medical Research Center, said.
The patent relates to vitamin K2 (MK-7) through a fermentation technology production process which utilizes the bacterial strain Bacillus licheniformis.
The European patent covers the “use of a composition of oral administration comprising a therapeutically effective amount of vitamin K2 (MK-7) either alone or in combination with one or more therapeutically effective agents in the improvement of blood perfusion and amelioration of hypoxia in venous insufficiency and its manifestation in human subjects, wherein the venous insufficiency is not varicose veins.”
The venous insufficiency manifestations are selected from a group consisting of paresthesiae, itching, cramps, and heaviness of limbs, Synergia said.
The patent covers its use in treatment of post thrombotic syndrome complications, where the PTS complications include heaviness, cramps, itching, and tingling in limbs.
Synergia Life Sciences reports that MenaquinGold is the most extensively researched vitamin K2 ingredient available, and that the ingredient has received NSF, cGMP, HACCP, and ISO-22000 certifications, and that it is certified non-GMO, Halal, and Kosher.
