Gadot Biochemical Launches New Magnesium Ingredients

A new line of magnesium citrates, gluconates, and phosphates will provide manufacturers more flexibility in formulation development.

Gadot Biochemical Industries (GBI) CEO Ohad Cohen announced recently that the company has added new ingredients to its line of magnesium raw materials, which include magnesium citrates, gluconates, and phosphates, to provide manufacturers more flexibility in formulation development, as well as to fulfill increased demand for the entire line of magnesium ingredients.

GBI magnesium ingredients are formulated to have high bioavailability, pH properties, palatability and solubility, Cohen said. Magnesium citrates are usable in a wide variety of consumer products, including nutraceuticals, beverages, infant formulas, dairy products/alternatives, and confectionary. Gluconates are characterized by exceptional chelating abilities and solubility, and magnesium in gluconate forms can be added to nutraceuticals, personal care, and beverage products.

Today, phosphorus is an important part of many products in the market that are essential to modern living and good health, Cohen said, and phosphates are viable for dairy products, infant formulas, and nutraceuticals.

Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the human body, and, as an essential mineral, its dietary intake is needed for more than 300 identified cofactors and is a crucial component of the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) metabolism. “Magnesium is required for DNA and RNA synthesis, reproduction, and protein synthesis,” Cohen said. “Moreover, magnesium is essential for the regulation of muscular contraction, blood pressure, insulin metabolism, cardiac excitability, vasomotor tone, nerve transmission, and neuromuscular conduction.”

Gadot Biochemicals is a Haifa Bay, Israel-based supplier of citrate-based minerals for dietary supplements, sports drinks, and beverages, and over 95% of Gadot’s production is exported worldwide to leading companies in the food, beverage, and nutraceutical industries.
