OmniActive Health Technologies launched Curcuwin Ultra+, the latest addition to its portfolio of curcumin-based ingredients. The clinically-studied, natural ingredient is designed to support clinical efficacy at a low dose, flexibility in formulation to include challenging applications such as gummies and beverages, and low cost in use.

“It’s no news that curcumin is still wildly popular with consumers, and as their demands evolved, we saw that there were multiple gaps arising in the market,” Sayantan Bhattacharya, senior director and category manager who oversees OmniActive’s branded curcumin products, said. “Curcuwin Ultra+ addresses several of these challenges in a single, convenient ingredient.”

Curcuwin Ultra+ is formulated using a unique, specialized process that incorporates bioenhancers to protect and deliver more curcuminoids than standard curcumin formulations. In one clinical study, it was shown to be 144 times more bioavailable compared to standard curcumin. In terms of potency, it was found that one capsule containing 250/500 mg of Curcuwin Ultra+ is equal to 30 capsules of standard curcumin/turmeric powder, OmniActive reports.

Additionally, its absorption rate is 40% faster than standard curcumin, research has found. Because it is made with Ultrasol, a delivery technology used in the ingredient’s predecessors, it also comes with clinically-supported heart health and sports nutrition benefits seen in the original Curcuwin.

“This product aims at disrupting how brands formulate with curcumin in an era where consumers are constantly looking at convenient solutions that can deliver more for less,” Isabel Lucas, director of Product Launch and Marketing Excellence at OmniActive, said. “We believe people will be highly interested in Curcuwin Ultra+ because of its clinically-demonstrated bioavailability and that it addresses consumer needs in the joint health, sports nutrition, and active wellness markets.”
