NPA Appoints Douglas Kalman, PhD, as Director of Scientific Affairs

Kalman’s expertise stems from being an advisor for leading teaching hospitals and clinical research organizations.

The Natural Products Association (NPA) appointed Douglas Kalman, PhD, as its director of scientific affairs, where he will serve as the organization’s new scientific advisor. Kalman’s career in clinical nutrition and the dietary supplements industry includes roles in leading academic hospitals and clinical research organizations, where he has made an impression within the industry and regulatory agencies.
 
Kalman has been a scientific and nutrition-specific advisor for many national and international organizations during his career, including the American Society for Nutrition, American College of Sports Medicine, International Society of Sports Nutrition, National Strength and Conditioning Organization, American Physiological Society, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and more. He has also advised sports organizations such as the United States Tennis Association, United States Track and Field, and others.
 
Most recently, he was the vice president of scientific affairs for Nutrasource, and is currently a faculty member in the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine at Nova Southeastern University in Florida.

Kalman received his undergraduate degree at Florida State University. He received his Master of Science at Hunter College and his Doctorate from Touro University International. He has been published widely in professional and academic literature throughout his career.
