Omega-3 companies which must adhere to European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) guidelines can review a new infographic created by the Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s (GOED), a trade association representing the omega-3s industry, in order to ensure their health claims are in compliance.
The infographic was developed using language taken directly from the Commission Regulations on the nine health claims on EPA and DHA omega-3s approved in the European Union. The infographic, which is a part of GOED’s efforts to educate consumers about omega-3s, can be downloaded at Alwaysomega3s.com, GOED’s consumer-facing website.
The nine EFSA-approved claims for the omega-3s EPA and DHA involve infant eye development, infant brain development, infant visual development, heart function, blood triglyceride levels, normal blood pressure, normal brain function, and normal vision.
