Open Book Extracts (OBX), BayMedica, Charlotte’s Web, Hemp Beverage Alliance, Kazmira, Mad Tasty, Wyld, and several other hemp and cannabidiol (CBD) companies and stakeholders have formed a coalition called One Hemp, which will advocate for a legal pathway to market for CBD products.

The organization will engage with Congress and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to advocate for dietary supplement regulations, highlighting science and other forms of data.

Among other issues, the organization will advocate for third-party testing and labeling standards, and, contrary to FDA’s intent, will advocate for CBD to be regulated under existing the regulatory framework for dietary supplements.

One Hemp recently submitted new insights and safety studies to Congressional leaders in response to a request for information from the industry.

“ONE HEMP is confident that the time for federal CBD policy reform has arrived during this Congressional session and is fully prepared to be the leading subject-matter resource for bipartisan action to support Congress and collaborate with the FDA,” said Dave Neundorfer, OBX chief executive officer. “ONE HEMP advocates for industry requirements to disclose hemp-derived product warning statements addressing the FDA’s public risk concerns and product safety and non-impairment recognition at certain dose levels based on credible scientific data.”

One Hemp will offer policymakers an industry resource to develop a regulatory approach that aligns with the need to ensure access for Americans to CBD, the organization reports.
