At SupplySide West, Monteloeder, a subsidiary of Suannutra, will be launching Mindrevive, a botanical ingredient formulated to support memory and cognition in adults.
The ingredient features sage (Salvia officinalis) extract standardized to rosmarinic acid and Japanese pagoda tree (Sophora japonica) extract standardized to rutin. Recent clinical studies have associated these bioactive compounds with memory retention and overall mental sharpness, Monteloeder reports.
“We conducted extensive research to identify nootropic ingredients that have demonstrated mental health benefits in clinical studies,” said Jonathan Jones, PhD, chief science officer for Monteloeder. “Our goal was to create a natural solution to support cognitive function that is also safe and effective for everyday use.”
Mindrevive has organoleptic properties suitable for any dietary supplement format and its optimal dosage, according to research, is 400 mg per day.
Beyond its use in culinary dishes, sage is a highly-nutritious botanical rich in antioxidants with in vitro studies demonstrating protective effects on nerve cells. The rich content of rutin in Japanese pogoda is evidenced to protect neurons from free radical damage.
To develop Mindrevive, Monteloeder screened various botanicals in neural cell cutlures to assess their antioxidant and inflammatory modulating properties, and their ability to enhance factors like BDNF, which is crucial for neuronal signalling and survival.
“Consumers are actively seeking ways to improve their mental performance, citing reasons such as work-related stress, increased cognitive demands, and a desire to maintain mental sharpness as they age,” said Maria Ángeles-Gutiérrez, marketing director for Suannutra. “Consumers want natural alternatives that not only enhance cognitive performance but also support overall mental health. Mindrevive taps into current trends in the nootropic space but also aligns with consumer demands for products that promote holistic well-being.”
