Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA)

Signed into law on Oct. 25, 1994, DSHEA modified the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act to define and regulate dietary supplements. As set forth in DSHEA, dietary supplements in the U.S. are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) under Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 111 (21 CFR Part 11).
