According to a report from BCC Research, Wellesley, MA, the global market for sports nutrition—worth more than $27 billion in 2007—is expected to reach nearly $92 billion by 2013, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 24%. The report, entitled “Sports Nutrition and High Energy Supplements: The Global Market,” says the largest and fastest growing segment is sports beverages, which generated revenues of $25 billion in 2007 and an estimated $28 billion in 2008. This is expected to increase to $87 billion by 2013. The U.S. is the largest consumer of sports nutrition products, followed by Western Europe and Japan. Key market drivers for the industry are taste, price, variety, brand trust and convenience.
