AFS’s Issued Patent for Producing Guayusa Extract Rich in Caffeine and Chlorogenic Acids

AUSTIN, Texas – March 21, 2017 – Applied Food Sciences, Inc. (AFS) is pleased to announce it is the exclusive inventor and owner of U.S. Process Patent #9345707. The process patent covers the production of enriched natural guayusa, from a single source plant, containing antioxidants, amino acids and caffeine. AFS are the inventors of a novel process that converts fresh guayusa leaves into a healthier, antioxidant rich guayusa ingredient. The result is a health energy ingredient that is rich in caffeine, chlorogenic acid antioxidants, catechins antioxidants, and trace elements of other nutritional compounds (like theobromine), which can then be brewed into a tea-like beverage or used to produce a potent guayusa extract.

In combination with this patent release, Applied Food Sciences is the launching its newest ingredient offering, AMATEA™ guayusa extract – A highly water soluble ingredient for the application of focused energy intended in beverages or nutritional supplements.
