Lallemand will showcase several of its innovations in the probiotics space at Vitafoods Europe in Geneva, Switzerland.

Organic S. boulardii

The company will showcase the first and only organic version of the probiotic yeast, Saccharomyces boulardii, which was launched last January, 100 years after its discovery.

“Consumers are proud to participate in sustainable development and this translates into responsible purchases, showing a strong preference for brands that correspond to their own convictions. We have repositioned this classic probiotic yeast to respond to current market trends,” said Romane Maillet, product manager.

Women’s Health

As women age, their bodies and health needs also change. The fluctuating levels of ovarian hormones is one of the key parameters impacting a woman’s health over the lifespan.

“Come discover our probiotic solutions for women’s health, from puberty to menopause, whether you are looking to market age-specific, every day or intimate health products. You can rely on our expertise to tailor dedicated probiotic formula women can count on,” said Bérengère Feuz, director, marketing and technical support.

Gut-Brain Axis

“Probiotics for mental health are in the spotlight. One of our most recent study results reinforce the validity of the brain-gut axis concept and warrants the influence of probiotics on psychological wellbeing among participants enrolled in a caloric-restriction intervention. A supplementation with documented probiotic strainL. rhamnosus HA-114 highlighted the beneficial effects of a probiotic intervention on eating behaviors, mental health, and metabolic profile, of overweight individuals on a weight-reducing program,” said Lucie Lingrand, product manager.

Mental wellness is also a concern permeating the nutricosmetics market, she said.

“Nutricosmetic is the latest trend in the beauty industry. Some of our probiotic supplements help to take care of skin, nails, and hair’s natural beauty from within. But beyond physical appearance, probiotics, by their action in the gut microbiome, enhance holistic beauty, including mental wellness”, said Marie-Anaïs Faye, sales manager at Lallemand Health Solutions. “We have all experienced the occasional stress, and how it can impact the skin health and appearance. By acting on the brain-gut axis, probiotics can benefit skin appearance. “We have put together a new exciting offer for the promising nutricosmetics market.”

Delivery and Dosage Innovations

Lallemand will be launching mint-flavored lozenges as a new dosage format for its probiotics, particularly suitable for oral health applications, according to Camille Binachon, product manager.

Lallemand’s oral health probiotics are backed by studies to support the health of teeth and gums, as well as breath. New findings from an in vitro study on halitosis will also be presented.

“We have probiotics for food and beverage applications, such as spore forming bacteria and microencapsulated lactobacilli and Bifidobacterium strains, to answer consumer growing demand for healthier ingredients in functional food and non-dairy beverage” said Camille Binachon, product manager.
